RLI said the increase in GPW was driven by its Casualty segment, which generated $339 million in premiums. Property generated $199.3 million, while Surety generated $41.4 million.

For the quarter, net premiums written stood at $484.7 million, up 6% from $457.1 million a year prior, while net premiums earned were $417.1 million, up 3.8% from $401.9 million.

RLI posted an underwriting income of $59.9 million, down from $62.2 million, with a higher combined ratio of 85.6% compared to 84.5%.

Results for both years included favourable development in prior years’ loss reserves, which increased underwriting income by $35.1 million in 2026 and $24.4 million in 2025.

Net investment income rose 16.8% to $46 million from $39.4 million.

The investment portfolio’s total return was 3.4% for the quarter and 3.0% for the six months ended June 30, 2026.

“We are pleased to report another quarter of premium growth and profitability,” said RLI Corp. President & CEO Craig Kliethermes. “Gross premiums written increased 3%, driven by our casualty segment, while strong margins in our property and surety segments contributed to an 86 combined ratio.
