Independent insurance broker Lockton has announced the appointment of Matt Kendle as Head of its newly established Construction and Design Practice.
The executive is joining Lockton from Marsh, brining over two decades of experience in construction and infrastructure insurance and brokerage to his new position.
At Marsh, he most recently served as Managing Director, leading the company’s international construction sector offering.
Kendle’s appointment follows Lockton’s recent strategic initiative to merge its construction-related teams from across the business into a unified 70-person team.
Under Kendle’s direction, the practice integrates several specialised departments, including the UK and International Construction, Energy and Power, Contractor and Design Firm Professional Liability, Casualty Construction, Surety, and Claims teams.
Gary Doran, Head of Global Energy & Power and Construction Practice, Lockton, stated: “The construction industry is at the heart of Lockton’s heritage. The creation of a dedicated practice under Matt’s leadership underscores our long-term commitment to delivering market-leading risk management and advisory services to clients worldwide.
“With ambitious growth plans in London, the US and globally, Matt’s industry credibility and relationships make him an excellent fit for our client-first culture.”
The consolidation of Lockton’s construction-related teams strengthens the broker’s commitment to the construction sector, which has been central to the firm since its founding in Kansas City in 1966.
According to Lockton, the new practise will play a key role in driving the next phase of Lockton’s growth strategy across the UK, US, and other international regions, while expanding its portfolio of construction and infrastructure clients.
Commenting on his appointment, Kendle said: “Lockton has built a practice that is well-respected within the construction and infrastructure sector – it’s one that speaks for itself and joining the business is a privilege.
“Creating a single 70-strong team is a powerful statement of intent and commitment to supporting our clients at a pivotal time when the sector is being fundamentally reshaped by their increasing need for smarter, integrated risk thinking.
“I’m excited to be leading this new team and helping to drive the next phase of Lockton’s growth ambitions in the UK and across its international operations.”
